The membership of PPTA includes the collectors of source plasma and manufacturers of plasma-derived and recombinant analog therapies. Member companies are represented on the global and regional Board of Directors, the Global Management Committee and steering committees and taskforces.

Working cooperatively with consumer groups, policy makers and other key stakeholders, PPTA addresses critical issues that affect the industry and patients who rely on plasma protein therapies.

Membership in PPTA

There are three different levels of membership within PPTA.

Global Membership
Global membership is available to businesses or groups of businesses engaged in the manufacture of products marketed throughout the world that meet each of the following criteria:

  • Engage in the manufacture and international marketing of products,
  • Operate their own facilities with fractionation capacity in excess of at least 500,000 liters annually with the facilities and products licensed by appropriate national/regional regulatory authorities.
  • Manufacture a broad range of products including, for example, albumin, coagulation factors, Factor VIII and Factor IX, and Immune Globulin.
  • Committed to the improvement and development of products as demonstrated by an annual investment in research and development.
  • Have products registered or pending registration in ten or more countries located in three or more continents.
  • Adhere to the highest standards of conduct as described in the Code of Ethics.

Regional Membership
Regional membership (i.e. PPTA Europe) is available and limited to businesses or groups of businesses engaged in the manufacture of products in two or fewer continents that meet each of the following criteria:

  • Engage in the manufacture and international marketing of products.
  • Operate their own facilities with fractionation capacity less than 500,000 liters annually with the facilities and products licensed by appropriate national/regional regulatory authorities, provided that such fractionation capacity does not apply to companies that produce substitute products through alternative technologies; and provided further that any company that meets the eligibility requirements for Regional Membership but has fractionation capacity of 500,000 liters or more shall be eligible for global membership only;
  • Committed to the improvement and development of products as demonstrated by an annual investment in research and development.
  • Adhere to the highest standards of conduct as described in the Code of Ethics.

Source Membership
Source Membership is available to organizations engaged in the collecting, manufacturing, processing or distributing of plasma for further manufacture and that adhere to the highest standards of conduct as described in the Code of Ethics.

Associate Membership
Associate Membership is available to organizations or groups of organizations providing services to businesses or organizations that qualify for either Global, Regional or Source membership in the Association. Associate members shall not be eligible to vote on Association matters or to hold office as directors or officers of the Association.
