PPTA Statement on the Inauguration of President Biden
The Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) and its member companies wish success to President Biden, Vice President Harris, and the dedicated public servants of their Administration as we join them to improve the health of all Americans.
“Plasma donors save lives, and PPTA looks forward to working with the new Administration and our Congressional champions to increase understanding of the perpetual need for plasma donations,” said Amy Efantis, PPTA’s President and CEO. Patients are relying on us to work together to ensure they are able to continue accessing the lifesaving therapies that are only available because of the commitment of dedicated plasma donors,” Efantis continued.
The critically important public health role that plasma donors play is more evident today than ever before and PPTA stands ready to work with Congress and the Department of Health and Human Services as they shoulder the burden of providing equal and patient-centered care during this challenging time. PPTA has long advocated for access to unique therapies for patients living with rare and life-threatening diseases, and we look forward to engaging in constructive dialogue with policymakers who share the goal of unfettered access to plasma protein therapies.
PPTA is a global organization dedicated to ensuring access to plasma-derived and recombinant analog therapies for many rare diseases affecting close to half a million individuals in the United States. The new Biden administration offers hope for advancements in science and treatments for these patients.
