During International Plasma Awareness Week (IPAW), October5–9, the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) is sharing insights from its Global Plasma Survey, which gathered perspectives from more than 1,100 patients, caregivers, family members and healthcare providers around the world.
The survey explored awareness and understanding of plasma-derived medicines, perceptions of plasma donation and donors, and opportunities to strengthen education and awareness. These insights help highlight what people know about plasma, the experiences of those connected to plasma-derived therapies, and where additional information and outreach may be valuable.

Here’s what respondents told us:

- KEY FINDING #1: More than two-thirds of respondents (69%) noticed a change in their health – or the health of someone they care for – within a few months of beginning a plasma-derived medicine.
- KEY FINDING #2: About two in three respondents reported that they – or someone they care for – receive plasma-derived medicines at least once a month, including 41% who receive treatment weekly.
- KEY FINDING #3: 87% of patients are confident in the safety and efficacy of plasma-derived medicines.
Turning Insights Into Awareness
The Global Plasma Survey provides an opportunity to better understand the perspectives of people connected to plasma-derived medicines and plasma donation. By sharing these findings during IPAW, PPTA aims to help bring these voices into conversations about education, awareness and advocacy.
The survey findings, combined with the stories of patients and donors, reinforce the importance of helping people understand what plasma is, how plasma-derived medicines are used, and why plasma donors matter.
This IPAW, help show how Plasma Powers Possibility. Explore the survey insights, share available resources, recognize plasma donors and help spread awareness of the therapies that make a difference in the lives of patients around the world.
