2026 International Plasma Protein Congress in Milan Just One Month Away

25 March 2026

With one month to go, anticipation is building for the upcoming International Plasma Protein Congress in Milan, Italy on 28-29 April. The event (organized by the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association) will convene over 250 attendees including policymakers, health care leaders, patient representatives, and industry stakeholders to discuss critical issues including patient access, supply chain resilience, and sustainability.

At a time when plasma donation and plasma-derived medicines are gaining global traction, the annual meeting is more critical and needed than ever. The meeting begins with notable findings from distinguished keynote speaker Nikolaj Siersbæk, Ph.D., Managing Economist, at Copenhagen Economics. His remarks will center around his recently published report on the status and impacting factors of plasma-derived medicines in Europe. Sharing his perspective ahead of the event, he said:

“I’m really looking forward to IPPC because it sits right at the intersection of access, supply chain resilience, and sustainability in plasma-derived medicinal products. In a market that is both highly specialized and policy-driven, I value the opportunity to engage directly with patients and stakeholders across the value chain, and to explore how economic insights can help address real-world constraints and evolving policy debates.”

Marilena Vrana, PPTA’s Vice President of Public Affairs and EU Operations, and a key organizer of the IPPC said this ahead of the gathering:

“IPPC is the premiere place for the global plasma community and all stakeholders to come together around a shared responsibility: delivering for patients. At a time of growing pressure on supply and rising patient need, continuous dialogue and the complementarity of expertise, strengths, and reach across the public, private and non-profit sectors are essential. Our focus on Resilience, Reach, and Responsibility reflects the actions needed to strengthen access and ensure patients across Europe and the world can rely on these lifesaving therapies.”

Other notable speakers at IPPC include the second day’s (29 April) keynote, David Osgathorp, a performance mindset consultant for F1 drivers. Attendees will learn how to use lessons learned from elite athletes and adapt them into the workplace amid rising pressures, stress, and uncertainty.

As the countdown continues, IPPC 2026 promises to serve as a vital platform for collaboration and insight, helping shape policies and innovations that will impact patients and health care systems worldwide. Registration is still open to the public at www.pptaglobal.org/ippc, and members of the media can request media credentials at media@pptaglobal.org.
