Are you planning to attend the 20th International Plasma Protein Congress (IPPC)? Here’s a helpful guide to help you navigate the Congress. Learn more about this year’s theme, discover panel topics, meet speakers, and learn about the networking opportunities that await you. Plus, there's something new on the agenda this year! Read on to find out what to expect at IPPC 2025.
2025 Theme Unpacked: The Unique and Global Plasma Supply Chain
The term "supply chain" usually describes how products get from the manufacturer to the market. In the plasma sector, however, it has a deeply human meaning. This is because the supply chain starts with the generosity of volunteer plasma donors, depends on international collaboration and specialised expertise, and ultimately serves to deliver lifesaving plasma-derived medicines (PDMPs) to patients.
Under the theme of a ‘unique and global supply chain’ the Congress spotlights the complexity and uniqueness of this critical network and the wide range of stakeholders it involves. It addresses the challenges of building and maintaining a resilient, sustainable, and efficient plasma supply chain in a changing global environment. Attendees can expect insights into what it takes to ensure uninterrupted access to plasma-derived medicines, particularly as clinical need for these treatments' increases.
20 Years of Driving Discussions
This year is a special one for the plasma community as we celebrate the 20th edition of the International Plasma Protein Congress (IPPC). Since it first began in 2005 in Berlin, IPPC has brought together experts, industry leaders, and patient voices to shape the future of plasma-derived medicines.
Inside the Sessions
At the heart of the Congress are the panel sessions. Each session offers fresh perspectives, practical insights, and opportunities for dialogue across the plasma community. The programme begins with a focus on the patient experience, setting the tone for discussions on access, innovation, and policy solutions that put patient needs first. From there, attention shifts to Europe’s efforts to strengthen supply chains, followed by a global look at how healthcare systems around the world are addressing access challenges. Looking ahead, the sessions explore what’s next for plasma-derived medicines through the latest advancements in research and innovation. Donor health and safety take centre stage as well, highlighting the importance of safe donation practices. The programme also looks at the role of market access policies in ensuring treatments remain accessible to patients.
