ABOUT THE CONGRESS

PPTA freut sich, bekanntzugeben, dass die Anmeldung für den International Plasma Protein Congress (IPPC) 2023, der vom 20. bis 21. Juni in Lissabon, Portugal, stattfinden wird, ab sofort möglich ist. Eröffnet wird der IPPC 2023 von Maarten Van Baelen, unserem Executive Director Europe, und einem Vertreter des portugiesischen Gesundheitsministeriums, der eine Eröffnungsrede halten wird. Die diesjährige Konferenz steht unter dem Motto " From Donor to Patient" und beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, wie wir die Gesundheit der Spenderinnen und Spender sicherstellen können, damit wir unseren Patient:innen hochwertige, sichere und wirksame lebensrettende Therapien anbieten können.
Nach der Eröffnung des IPPC folgt ein einführendes Interview, in dem die wichtigsten Herausforderungen und Chancen für die Branche im Jahr 2023 in Europa beleuchtet werden, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die SoHO-Verordnung. Eine dieser großen Herausforderungen wird in der ersten Sitzung erörtert, die sich auf die Gesundheit der Spender:innen konzentriert und die Sicherheit von Plasmaspenden fördert. Wir werden uns die Bandbreite der Studien ansehen, die der Branche zur Spender:innensicherheit vorliegen, und einige aktuelle Studien genauer betrachten. Außerdem werden wir die Sicht der Spender:innen auf die Sicherheit von Spenden hören und erfahren, wie die Hämovigilanzberichte und das Cross Donor Check System (CDCS) zur Gesundheit der Spender:innen beitragen. Zudem werden wir uns die Haltung der EDQM zur Spender:innengesundheit genauer ansehen und herausfinden, wie ihr Verständnis verbessert werden kann.Das Thema "Gesundheit der Spender:innen" leitet über zur zweiten Session, die sich mit dem Zugang zu und der Einzigartigkeit von aus Plasma gewonnenen Arzneimitteln (PDMPs) beschäftigt. Wir werden die Zugangsprobleme in einer Reihe von europäischen Ländern untersuchen und die Perspektive der Patient:innen einnehmen, um den Wert dieser wichtigen Therapien besser zu verstehen.
In der dritten und letzten Session des Tages wird das ungenutzte Potenzial der PDMPs und des Plasmas näher beleuchtet. Die Session ermöglicht, die bisherigen Fortschritte in Bereichen wie Herstellung, Forschung und Entwicklung zu erfassen und potenzielle neue Anwendungen zu erkunden, die besser auf die Bedürfnisse der Patient:innen zugeschnitten sind, und zu sehen, wie Innovationen ihr Leben verbessern können. Dies fasst das Thema "From Donor to Patient" in einer einzigen Sitzung zusammen. Tag 1 wird mit der Verleihung des Hilfenhaus-Preises durch den Vorsitzenden des EU-Vorstands von PPTA, Ferdinando Borgese, abgeschlossen.
Der PPTA-Executive Director, Europe, Maarten Van Baelen, wird Tag 2 der IPPC 2023 eröffnen und den Hauptredner von der Europäischen Kommission vorstellen.
Die 4. Session des IPPC 2023 wird sich dann mit der Frage beschäftigen, wie wir mehr Plasma in Europa sammeln können, um eine strategische Autonomie für diesen lebensrettenden Rohstoff zu erlangen und unsere Abhängigkeit von den USA zu verringern. Wir werden den Wert eines hohen Gesundheitsniveaus der Spender:innen analysieren und die Rolle der Vergütung bei der Plasmasammlung erörtern. Außerdem werden wir von Interessenvertreter:innen, darunter Politiker:innen und Patient:innen, hören, was sie über die Erhöhung der Plasmasammlung in Europa denken und welche Möglichkeiten die EU-SoHO-Verordnung bieten kann.Anschließend gehen wir auf die Initiativen der einzelnen Mitgliedstaaten ein, die darauf abzielen, mehr Plasma zu sammeln. Wir untersuchen verschiedene Modelle in der EU und wie sie dazu beigetragen haben, die Verfügbarkeit von Plasma zu erhöhen. Außerdem werden wir sehen, wie effektiv die Koexistenz von öffentlichem und privatem Sektor sein kann.
Die letzte Session der IPPC 2023 wird sich auf den wachsenden klinischen Bedarf an PDMPs konzentrieren, nicht nur aus medizinischer Sicht, sondern auch aus Sicht der Patient:innen. Wir werden uns speziell mit dem Wert befassen, den Immunglobuline für Patient:innen und die Gesellschaft haben, Fragen des Zugangs diskutieren und untersuchen, was genau der angemessene Einsatz dieser lebensrettenden Therapien ist.
Der Weg von Spender:innen zu Patient:innen ist damit abgeschlossen. Das IPPC wird von Maarten Van Baelen, PPTA Executive Director, Europe, zusammengefasst und abgeschlossen.
